Unexpectedly, and contrary to the law that mandates government funding for certified schools, Arad County ceased funding for Sunshine School in September leaving a funding gap of $180,000. This shortfall is due to a dispute between the County and the Federal Ministries of Education and is unrelated to operations at the school.
Years after it was fully qualified, Sunshine School began receiving the legally mandated state funding due to all certified schools in Romania on January 1st, 2023. This funding unexpectedly ceased in September over an internal governmental dispute between county and federal agencies. The dispute was not whether Sunshine School should continue to receive funding (the government agrees they are required to provide it) but over which agency would pay.
The bottom line is while they fight, RCE is left with a funding gap of $180,000!
You can help us close the funding gap before the end of the year with a one-time gift, in addition to any year end giving you may be planning, and your generosity will ensure that children with special needs and impoverished families continue to know the Lord’s love and provision through RCE.
Thank you!

Withholding funds was initially communicated to RCE as a delay. We expected the government to fulfill its commitment until it became clear in November that no more funds would be forthcoming in 2023.

Yes, we have a written agreement to that end. But contingency plans are being put in place in case, once again the government is unable or unwilling to provide its legally mandated support.

Take the County to Court. RCE has a fine attorney who works on our behalf, and he is confident that over time (probably two or three years), the Court will restore these funds to RCE.
